Every time I click on my IE browser it says "Page Cannot be Displayed", when I try to connect to Steam it says there is no internet connection, since I use Windows 8 I have an Internet Explorer app that works fine (which is what I'm using now). I've tried everything short of doing a factory reset. I am connected to my network and it says I have Internet access. I've run out of ideas aside from taking it in for someone to look at it, and Just wiping the computer. Resetting my router and using the Command Console haven't done anything.I have also tried downloading Chrome, but says I don't have an internet connection.Update:Thank you for the responses, but nothing has worked.. Computer issues?

It could be your browser / network settings are set up with a proxy server, if you bypass the router do you get the same thing ?, can you ping a website any website?

open internet explorer and ignore the "Page Cannot be Displayed" click on the tools icon (little gear cog) then internet options> click the connections tab and then LAN, make sure the "use a proxy server box is NOT ticked) if it is un tick it (malware can cause this to be changed) above click the "automatically detect settings" box leaving the one below it un-ticked then press OK. Now do the same again to get into options menu and go to the general tab, make sure it is set to http://www.bing.co.uk/ or http://www.google.com/ or whatever your home page is and press OK. now try connecting and after rebooting your router and computer.if still no connection. Make sure that internet explorer is not running in offline mode. see below. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/180946

The steam connection issue thing is common when it can not sign in some times, try connecting later or tomorrow. the no internet connection issue for steam may be related to the above.

Make sure you also download the free version of malwarebytes and do a scan, delete all the stuff it finds if any.

I had a same problem. the computer was connected to network via both wifi and lan cable and I didn't have internet on my computer. I had re-formatted my computer to solve the problem. please let me know if there is an easy way to fix it.
