My friends computer does this weird thing
were when he turns it on he sees the brand
and the screen goes black. Its a Gateway Pentium 4...
Is there anyway you can solve this problem?
Update:The computer doesnt shut down,
and neither does the screen...
I guess it just stops after that. Hes
left it on for five minutes loading.
It usually loads in thirty second.
The screen just stopped after the
Gateway symbol thing. Nothing disconnected,
he dusted it with those cans of air,
but it was shifted slightly. It doesnt
notice that the screen isnt working.

Can you get into the BIOS by pressing "Delete" or F1 (it's different for different brands)? If it's a graphics card (i.e. doesn't have built in graphics on the motherboard) then make sure the card is securely locked in place. If it appears the computer is booting and running - you see activity on the hard drive because the led is blinking - then check the card, cables to the monitor and if you have another video output on the computer give that a try because maybe the video is being redirected by windows to that output. Had this happen to a friend that bought a floor model that was setup to output to DVI and he had trouble setting up the VGA connection. Other that this it can be other hardware issues, such as a memory stick not firmly pushed into the motherboard, the cpu not being properly seated or the CPU's fan not connected correctly - really a lot of possible issues so just make sure nothing is unpluged and everything is locked into place. One last thing to consider is if you upgraded the PC and added additional memory, drives, etc. - you may need a more powerful power supply.
There can be numerous reasons that your friend is having that problem. You have to be more specific as to what is happening for anyone to know how to fix it.
Could be a few things... His hard drive could be corrupt and/or going bad. Try reinstalling Windows using a recovery disk.
that can be any number of things. your question isn't really specific. does the computer shut down?
