Am I the only person who finds them a bit uncomfortable? I just came off the pill as I felt it was bringing me 'down' mood wise. But it just doesn't feel as good as not using one. Anyone got any ideas? What about extra thin or sensitive ones?
Does anyone have the contraceptive injection? or the implant?
I'm not intersted in having a coil; anyone got any ideas?

The thin ones are great, you hardly notice it there...... The sensitive ones from Trojans or Durex.......
PS....Try the ones w/ lub.....Feels great!!!!!
There are several types of condom out there, some ribbed, some that are supposed to provide a 'warming sensation' some extra thin, its best to try different ones until you find the one YOU like...but I too would always prefer going without, and my husband agrees. I recently had to quit the patch because it made me really sick and moody...it was just like bieng pregnant all over agian. I've started NuvaRing, so far so good. It has the lowest amount of hormones of all the common birth control while still bieng effective. It takes a little bit to get used to while having sex, and, I think it may just be because i'm small, but at certain times (when your cervix is in a lower position) it can feel a little in the way...but I would take a day or two of that over the other side effects no question. There are also other barrier methods such as a diaphram, but make sure you have it in the right spot, and check after to make sure it hasnt slipped. I've heard bad things about the injection...weight gain, illness, bone density loss...and I dont know much about the implant, so far as I could tell its not much different.
There is the option of femidoms (female internal condoms). I have never used these, and wouldnt have a clue how to make sure its worn correctly.
Featherlite condoms are great, they're thin enough to barely notice its there and allows great sensitivity for both partners.
I had the injection and would not reccomend it. Plus sides; Effectively immediately if taken within the first two-three days into a period. Periods will eventually stop. 1 shot of Depo lasts 12 weeks. (there is another type that lasts for less than 12 weeks) Minus sides; can take upto and over 18 months for a womans fertility to return to normal. Weight gain. Possible irregular bleeding for the first 3 shots. Prolonged use has been linked to osteophoisis.
Never tried the implant.
The pill is a good way, either the Progesterone only or the combined pill. You will have to remember to take a pill each day either every day or for 21 days than have a 7 day break and start again.
The following links take you to sites that sell femidoms and the different types of condoms available.

Have you tried Depo-Provera injection?
An ex used that. There is also a sub-dermal implant from Ingenta that has good success.
"In presently available subdermal implants, levonorgestrel is contained in six flexible, closed capsules made of silastic tubing. Contraceptive protection begins within 24 hours when insertion occurs during the first 7 days of the menstrual cycle. The effect lasts for up to 5 years, a woman may request removal at any time. Fertility promptly returns to preinsertion levels once implants are removed.
During the first year, the typical failure rate is 0.2%. Overall annual pregnancy rates, derived from studies conducted during the 1980s in 11 countries, are 0.2%, 0.9%, 0.5%, and 1.1% in the second through fifth years, respectively. Some studies documented failure rates of 0% in the first year."
If you pay over the odds for them you can get the thin and sensitive ones. I had the contraceptive injection for about 2 and a half years but came off it in the new year. My boobs became very sore and sensitive. Although it was gr8 as I was one of the lucky ones whose periods stopped. You are doing right getting other people advise. Although it was gr8 not having the periods nobody tells you that it can take 6 months for your body to return to normal and that you may bleed for most of this time. I have been on and off but there is still no regularity to my periods- but my boos are feeling better
I came of the pills and found condoms ok but greatfully have found condoms wich are ribbed or have different suface texture wich is AMAZING technology durin sex... I am about to have the contraceptive implant as it can be taken out whenever if any side affects occur as well as the fact you dont need to remember it for 3 years rather than the injection as it can cause osteoporosis and if you have side effects you carnt get it out your system also your fertility can take a while to return... but in the meantime i'm jus enjoying the diffrent ranges of condoms or rather the ribbed ones (being more pacific) rather than with the bog standard ones ... have fun with them :0P
No-one has suggested this but how about seeing the doctor about trying a different pill? I too had the same thing - quite severe mood swings. My doctor changed my pill to a prescription only pill and I had no problems since (in 5 years!). Worth a try?
i too dont like condoms it doesnt feel as close and also want to come off the pill.......i was thinking of the injection but i guessing the mood thing will just be the same
If condoms feel uncomfortable to you - perhaps you have an allergy to latex. Talk to your gyno about this.
Read the article and see what works for you - there are many different routes you can go with this one...
You're a smart cookie for being safe - stay that way! : )
Having worked in an infertility clinic it is alarming how many people have problems conceiving long after they have stopped having injections. Yes, condoms are uncomfortable, but pregnancy is more so!
I would definitely recommend the injections i was on them in between having my children. Depo Parvo was the name, one injection every 3 months. No side effects for me although i have know of people who had continual bleeding but you wont know until you try.
