I really would like to go Vegetarian. The only issue is, I cannot eat salads. I really cannot eat a good bit of vegetables. I know there are soy and quorn alternatives for meat. I tried quorn a while back, and I found it delicious. I really do want to cut off my real meats and substitute them for others. Also being in the tough economic times, are these alternatives more costly or are they still affordable as I am eating now? Can anyone give some advice for me? Also the meats I really do like are:
All chicken
Bacon
Some sausage
pepperoni
Update:I take vitamins for what I am not getting from veggies.

I almost never eat salads! It's hard to find good salads, so I mostly eat other vegetarian foods. Remember that vegetarians aren't limited to vegetables, but there are lots of grains (pasta, rice, bread, etc.) and as a vegetarian you can still eat cheese and eggs. Unless you go and buy tons of specialty foods, you won't have to spend a fortune, and you might even spend less, because meat tends to be more expensive. Often you can just leave the meat out of a dish and it's still good, or you can substitute beans for the meat, or use imitation meat. Vegetarians can still eat pasta, soups, sandwiches, pizza, and tons of things that you are probably used to eating already. Of course you should eat a good amount of fruits and vegetables and legumes and whole grains so you get enough nutrition. So do some research, look up some recipes, and take the transition slowly if you need to.
If you "cannot eat a good bit of vegetables" you could have a really hard time. It'll help if you can cook, because vegetables can be prepared lots of different ways and if you can cook you can always make them the way you want. But why not just try it for a few months and then decide whether or not to stick with it in the long term? It's not like once you start you take an oath to God.
I find the pricing is about equal to regular meat products. All of the meats you like have substitues (I've actually seen all of them except bacon, but my friend says it exists).
You don't have to eat salads, it just makes eating out a lot easier. However, vegetables are a neccesary part of nutrition and vegetarian or not, you should be eating several servings a day.
I hope you do it =)
Well, the good news is that there are lots of fake chicken, bacon, pepperoni, and sausage products out there. The bad news is they tend to be a little pricey. Not knowing your particular medical condition, I'd say to talk to a nutritionist about your food allergies and get some data from her about which veggies your body can tolerate. (I never heard of anybody being unable to eat iceberg lettuce, though!)
There are other categories of food available to you including grains, legumes, and fruits, that will add to your food choices. What about starches? Can you eat pasta? A rice or pasta dish with whatever veggies you can eat in the sauce would help nutritionally. Get some specifics from an expert and you'll be fine.
Best of luck to you.
it is a lot better to acually eat foods with the nutriants in it that take suppliments. but i do higly recomend it. go on to goveg.com and read some articles. its very helpful
