Okay, so im in the market for a good photo editor and my first thought is of coarse Photoshop. But the price is just insane! Even though i can get CS6 extended for around $300 since i have a student discount i simply cant afford that right now. My question would is Corel or another program as good as Photoshop or am i better to just wait it out? I do not need a editor right this second, i can wait but i will need one at some point. Also my student discount is running out soon so part of the issue with waiting is Photoshop will be double the price by the time i can afford it. Is it really worth it to wait?
Update:Cab: Its highly suggested i get a photo editor but not 100% required. My editing intensity depends on the day and the picture but i would say moderate not heavy with editing (yet). And yes price is a HUGE factor as to what i buy simply because buying the Equipment in the first place has made me go broke (Relatively speaking). I still havnt decided yet but PSP is looking more likely simply because it could get me through what i need it for and i can buy Full Photoshop later.- thanks for the help!

Corel PSP X6 is a very capable editor. But first a few questions.
1) are you required to have the software for a certain course? If yes, and it's CS6, then bight the bullet.
2) how intense is your editing? I've used PSP for many years before feeling that I needed more. Editing the Alpha Channel and a few plug-ins that just don't work as well in PSP as they do in full Photoshop to be honest. Most other things like mask layers, blending modes, cloning, and most other tools in full Photoshop are available in PSP.
3) do you like to save money? If that's a big one then PSP will save you alot more in the long run.
Keep in mind that your student discount makes you ineligible for future upgrade rates for Adobe products but not with Corel's student discounts.
Personally I rank Corel PSP above Photoshop Elements, but bellow full Photoshop.
