I have a debate about CSR, should businesses be forced to engage in corporate social responsibility? I am against this motion.
I have searched the internet (wikipedia and many other websites) about this subject but can't seem to understand what csr means anyways or what can i say to support my argument. Any help is appreciated..

Your difficulty in finding information on this subject is not surprising since it iis, basically, a meaningless concept when applied to a corporation.
A corporation's only fidelity is to its shareholders and has no social function except to make money for its shareholders while obeying the laws under which it operates. As such it has no "social responsibility" to external individuals or organizations. In fact, if you closely examine the so-called "social responsibilities" people are fond of insisting upon, you will find that they are simply what the person himself believes in. That makes the list so long that any corporation who took the concept seriously would find it impossible to define which "responsibility" to take on first.
But it is a nice-sounding "feel good" concept isn't it? Because everyone can define it more or less as they want to. Which is a nice definition of 'meaningless' in itself!
