If you witnessed someone experience trauma, like being hit by a car. Would you still perform CPR if they were not breathing and you couldn't detect a pulse? Isn't there risk that internal injuries like a punctured lung or something could make CPR dangerous in a trauma situation?

If they are not breathing and they have no pulse, they are clinically dead. You can't make them worse. So why not try to make them better? A punctured lung will heal if they survive. If you're dead with a punctured lung it really doesn't matter does it?
The most important thing is the A-B-C's even when other trauma is present. You need to secure that airway and get circulation going.
If you are a bystander, I would recommend doing bystander CPR which involves compressions only. I would not perform any rescue breathing unless you have an approved pocket mask with you or other ventilation device.
If you have been trained in CPR then follow the instructions taught in your class. If you have not been trained I would recommend taking a course. The American Red Cross or American Heart Association would be good places to start.
You should still perform cpr and rescue breathing. The benefits in that situation out way the potential risks. If you do it correctly the most you could do is fracture a rib or two. If you are worried ant legal issues you are covered by the good Samaritan laws. If they do not have a pulse or are not breathing, this is the exact scenario to use cpr.
If a person is not breathing or has a pulse, it is more important to begin CPR then to worry about possible other injuries.
yes! because the purpose of CPR is to revive..meaning there is negative pulse and negative breathing..don't perform CPR to conscious patients! the secondary injuries may just be the second concerns because the primary focus is on reviving the patient..if you are a nurse or a doctor, you can perform it but if not, you can't because medically-related professions can use the Good Samaritan Law in case a law suit arises! but if u're not, u can be held liable..
