I'm finding the critical points of the function: Arctan(x^(2)-7x+2). I'm getting the derivative to be
2x-7/1+(x^(2)-7x+2)^2
The answers identify only one key point which is found when I put the numerator equal to zero. Why can the denominator not equal zero/ why can there be no critical values coming from the denominator?

The denominator cant be 0 because then the function will
be undefined. Since the denominator is 1+(x^(2)-7x+2)^2,
I think 0 can be plugged in because we do get a value
