A credit card is a line of credit. In other words, the cardholder advances you the money, and you must eventually pay it back (usually with interest charges added on, if you don't pay off your balance in full each month).
A debit card takes the money directly out of your checking account when you make the purchase. So you don't owe anyone any money, and there are no interest charges. (But there may be a per-transaction fee, depending on the terms of your debit card.) Also, you must have enough money in your bank to cover the purchase!

A credit card is an account that is given to you with a certain spending limit on it. Each month you make payments to the account if you have used it for purchases.
A debit card ties into your direct banking accounts. You can swipe it like a credit card, but it take the money immediately out of your checking or savings account. There is no bill to pay at the end of the month.
a credit card is for charging money to an account at a high interest rate like 21% and a debit card is your atm card guaranteed by the bank up to 300 or more dollars because of your bank account but is not accepted all the places that credit cards are, because it is a debit card
