It depends on your budget on what you can afford. There are many places to buy parts for your Custom Made Computer. If its a gaming rig, you can just buy the parts that is specially designed for gaming.

I suggest getting this mobo
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82...
and a E8400 for a processor
And a 250W PSU
and optical drive
a 500 GB hard drive
and a crapy case and u are set
taht should cost u about 300-400 bucks
get liquid cooling, either a GTX 275 or ATI 4890, quad core, Razer I THX Mako (speaker system), 700w power system, Razer diamond back 3G(mouse, Saitek eclipise 1 (keyboard), PCI-E express x16 MoBo, some sort of good sound card. 3GHz RAM, 500-1000 Giga bytes mem, and probably vista. make sure u have more money for the new windows 7 update coming soon also.
in case you dont % to purchase on line then I advise you seem interior the telephone e book. you are going to pay extra paying for them domestically and paying sales tax alongside with a larger shelf value. whilst paying for the Q6600 quad determine you get the hot SLACR version with the G0 stepping. It runs cooler and makes use of much less skill than the previous SL9UM quad. I do advise you come to a variety what board you % and price all 3 products at Newegg till now you flow paying for. some shops are way out of line on expenditures. I ran out of Artic Silver 5 so i went to a keep that wanted $15 for the small tube. I instructed them i'm getting the super tubes for $15 so that they ended up giving it to me for $5.
it depends on your price range and are you going to choose intel or amd? and what socket? to start
