In the modern world, noise pollution is a major problem in cities. What if the woman raped screams, but no one hears her due to, let's say, being raped in an alley way out the back of a nightclub. Should she still be stoned to death?
'If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.'
Update:Oh? I thought the old law still applied..
Matthew 5:18-19
'Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place' -Matthew 5:17
'Whoever curses father or mother shall die' Mark 7:10... here Jesus refers to the Old Law.

Those rules were under the Old Covenant and no longer apply.
Jesus instigated the New Covenant at his resurrection.
Hebrews 8:13
In that He says, “A new covenant, ” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
1. “If a young woman who is a virgin is betrothed to a husband, and a man finds her in the city and lies with her, then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman because she did not cry out in the city, and the man because he humbled his neighbor’s wife; so you shall put away the evil from among you."
(Deuteronomy 22:23-24)
2. “But if a man finds a betrothed young woman in the countryside, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the young woman; there is in the young woman no sin deserving of death, for just as when a man rises against his neighbor and kills him, even so is this matter. For he found her in the countryside, and the betrothed young woman cried out, but there was no one to save her.
(Deuteronomy 22:25-27)
3. “If a man finds a young woman who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and lies with her, and they are found out, then the man who lay with her shall give to the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife because he has humbled her; he shall not be permitted to divorce her all his days.
(Deuteronomy 22:28-29)
⺠Adultery was punished by death for the two found in the act. If the adulterous persons were a man with a woman who was pledged to be married to someone else, this this consentual act led to the death of both parties (verses 23,24).
⺠However, if the man forced (raped) the woman, then only the man's life was required (verses 25-27).
⺠If the woman was a virgin not pledged in marriage, then the man had to pay a fine, marry the girl, and keep her as his life as long as he lived (verses 28,29)
In the modern world, I'm sure there are many, many, many of those who have been framed by others & in result led to false punishment. Although, the LORD knows all & He will deal with those who did wrong. And for those who were wronged by others.. He will reward them with even more in heaven because they suffered. God will deal with everyone sufficiently. Nothing is hidden from His eyes.
We all fall short.

In this modern day world, we also have this thing that is called the New Testment, Thou shalt not murder!!!
People took the laws and twisted them, they put their own meanings into them. The Pharisees and the Scribes started making their own laws, out of what they thought God said, they would pick out and choose verses to use for their own power. You can not singlehandedly go through the Bible and pick out a verse and put your own meaning into it. The Bible is a whole book, and faith is needed to understand it. Anyone can pick up a book and read a verse, do you think they would understand the whole book with just one verse, No!!
The Law still stands yes, but if a woman gets raped, she doesn't get stoned.
If a married woman lies with another man, yes she'll get stoned because she was NOT raped "cried not"
Blessings
The world is a much different place than it was during the span of time during which the Bible was written. You have to take what still works and rethink the rest.
