when that spring hit Felipe Massa in the Hungarian grandprix, did he lose consciousness? (I'm not sure if i am spelling it right...)
I can' t find anything about it, I mean he didn't seem to brake but that doesn't necesserily mean he is unconscious ?

Yes, it appears he did.

"The Ferrari driver was struck on the left-hand side of his helmet by a steel spring that had come away from the rear suspension of Rubens Barrichello's Brawn car, which was running ahead of him on track. Massa lost consciousness in the impact and continued across the turn four grass and into the tyre barriers on the outside of the corner at barely unabated speed. Although long black tyre marks suggested that there was an attempt to brake, the Ferrari still hit the wall at an estimated 125mph."

"During the course of his examination they established that he suffered serious, life-threatening injuries including loss of consciousness and a fracture of the forehead on the left side and a fracture on the base of the skull."
He was unconsience the moment he got hit..he slipped out of the seat and jammed both the throttle and the brake pedal. That's why he couldnt stop the car. When he hit the wall the engine was still on and the car was still accelerating into the wall because his foot was on the pedal.
Does it matter?
The truth is, he had a skull fracture with a minor brain contusion which required operative management.
He is amnesic to the event, and was certainly cognitively incapacitated to the point that he was unable to negotiate the corner by coordinating his physical output onto the car.
Level of consciousness is something that is on a continuum scale. There is no clear-cut point where full consciousness is on one side and deep coma directly on the other. Trying to determine where someone is on that continuum is not particularly useful unless you are an anaesthetist about to give the surgeon the nod.
Yes. He did indeed. When it hit... his body went stiff and he was fully on brakes and throttle at the same time. This shows that he wasn't concious.
Also Massa has said he doesn't remember anything about the accident. Also showing that he was unconscious.
conscuiosness?
consciousness? (I'm not sure if i am spelling it right...)
Lol. I love it when spell check is ignored in haste for a question.
He is so lucky in so many ways. He wouldn't have lost consciousness because it hit him too quick. A person's head has to be unsupported for this to occur and in this case he would've broken his neck if that was the scenario. If he had lost consciousness he wouldn't have regained it for a long time.
Yes now he thinks he can drive a race car.
Don't believe everything you read (especially British newspapers which are the worst in the world for making up rubbish as they go along). I doubt it very much. Because of this picture:

That was taken straight after he hit the barrier, while they were removing him from the car. Does he look unconscious to you? lol
I think he received a concusion and went into a slight shock. Sort of like getting punched hard in the face...it's called being punch-drunk. You lose your senses and your awareness of your surroundings but don't actually black out.
edit: I would put a "graphic" warning on the picture, but it's only a little bit of blood. If you can't stand the sight of blood...then grow a pair!!!
I,m just pleased hes still with us my friend.
