And apparently his "shoot" was heavily influenced by CM Punk's style of "breaking the fourth wall" where Cena said things "he wants supposed too" difference being CM Punk's was original, thats CM Punk's style, and Punk's was a lot more realistic. John Cena's promo seemed like a poor man's style of a CM Punk promo. Don't get me wrong it was cool to Cena finally stop being the same old cheesy guy that he is and cut a decent promo. I can understand your understanding behind Cena's shoot-like promo. Probably it was to make Cena more serious and kinda think that Kane has gotten to him with embracing the hate and be more real with his style and his gimmick. Can it be successful? IMO, no. Cena wasn't made for that, he is the big company man downplaying The Rock for not being a company man

Where Punk's was revolutionary for his present status within WWE, it doesn't do Cena justice for him to do a promo like that if it isn't going anywhere. WWE aren't gonna book Cena heel so why do a heel-like stance against The Rock. It seems WWE's booking made that Cena promo bad and good at the same time. I wasn't that impressed either but I think it'll make Cena's gimmick a bit more lenient

The one with the Rock was decentish. But the one on Eve was great. Hoeski was trending worldwide thanks to that. I especially loved his line after Eve was all over him. "I'm disease-free and I want to keep it that way." Nice to see him changing things up a bit for once.

Yes, I was impressed because everything Cena said, whether it was scripted or not, was true. Rock will insult him, but he won't be able to dispute what Cena said.
