I'm going to be cooking dinner the Monday before Thanksgiving for My Mom, my "grandpa", my mom's friend, her boyfriend, and her two kids that are my age. I'm 13, but I love cooking. I want to make a dinner to impress them. I already have dessert planned and an idea for a pasta, but I need a solid main course. The only problem is if I were to use the pastaflavored with peas and bell peppers. then the strawberry-themed dessert won't work as well. I don't have any cookbooks, either. My mom is more of a hamburger-helper person.

There are some good recipe sites online. You can search based on the kinds of things you know your family likes, since it sounds like they might not be too adventurous in their tastes. http://www.allrecipes.com/ includes user reviews.
You can also get cookbooks from the library.

lol aww thats so cool u love to cook I think u could make meals that are catchy yet ur own twist on classical dishes kinda like rachel ray
for example give mac and cheese a kick
in a pan brown some ground beef and drain the fat and leave to the side of the stove
in a pot boil elbows with alittle salt added to water
when ready drain and put back into pot with alittle milk and velveeta let it heat throught and mix till creamy and warm then add the beef and mix in some salsa mix well till all blended and u can choose to make it extra spicy with the salsa depending on how much u use and u can choose to make it extra cheesy with amount of cheese u put in
heres another idea make breakfast everyone loves pancakes but give them a different flavour
take bisquick add 2 eggs sugar vanilla and cinnamon and milk mix till smooth and blended
heat a pan and pour some batter in add chocolate chips the the pancake then flip to seal them in and continue till ur done with the pancakes
u can also make pumpkin pancakes using libbys 100 percent natural pumpkin add to bisquick with vegetable oil only 2 tbsp and 2eggs sugar cinnamon and nutmeg and mix with milk till well blended then pour into heated pan and cook make be thick and chucky because of pumpkin
or make blue berry pancakes same way u make the chocolate chip pancakes except add blue berries ever pancake u cook in the pan
always serve with maple butter rich syrup and add extra cinnamon for a kick and butter to ur liking
For dessert its always great to buy a oreo cookie crust done for u and make cooked chocolate pudding and add to crust follow directions on side and refridgerate till stiff and ready to serve serve with whip cream
How about cheese cake
2 bars philadelphia cream cheese
1 conatiner cool whip
2 cups sugar
mix all ingredients together with hand mixer then put into a graham cracker crust and refridgerate for 4 hours then serve with cherry compote like the cherries in the can in dessert isle
