Do composite and component cables hook up into the same slots on all equipment? They are basically the same except for that I heard component has a better signal for viewing tv. And does it also need a seperate audio wire to hear the tv without using a sound system just the tv audio?

The composite cable is a single hook up while the component is a single cable with three color coded wires that must be hooked up according to the colors for a better picture than composite cable, Both require separate audio cable hook up to hear it on your TV.The required audio cable is needed because you are sending audio from you component to your TV.Most newer equipment are color coded to help in connecting components, they may be located in different places on different products.
