I'm going to get my tongue pierced soon, and I'm trying to choose a place to get it done that will be professional and that I won't have to worry as much about infection. So, I'm considering having a doctor do it, but do they do tongue piercings? I know they do ear piercings but I can't remember if I've heard of them doing tongue piercings or not.
Update:Listen assholes, I'm not stupid for wanting it. I know the risks that come with it and I've done research on it. Just answer the question.

No, they don't. And I would never trust a doctor to pierce my tongue. They really don't know ANYTHING about piercings. If you go to them with an infected belly button piercing, they'll tell you to take it out, when in reality, that is the last thing you want to do (it just traps the infection when the piercing closes). Finding a good, clean shop isn't hard. Just walk in a few places. If the lobby looks dirty walk out, because chances are things aren't kept sterile in the actual room where you'll be pierced. If it looks clean, ask for a tour (most places will be happy to do this for their customers. A happy customer is a repeat customer. A repeat customer is money in their pocket). Also, tongue piercings are the least likely to get infected if it's done with a sterile needle. Your mouth has natural bacteria that kills infection. Ok, well that's about all the information I feel like typing. Hope I helped more than the people calling you an idiot. =]
I've never heard of a doctor doing a tongue piercing, and I don't think they do. You can go to a tattoo shop and get it pierced. Most places that do tattoo will have a piercer there as well. Make sure that all the tools they use are brand new, they usually are. They'll all be wrapped and sealed tight, needles and tools used to hold the tongue for piercing. That's how mine and everyone I know that has one was done and we've never had any problems. I've had mine for 11 years, and I've never once had a problem.
i dont think docs do tongues piercings.
umm if your gunna get your tongue pierced then i would go to a professional that has pictures of there work.
