They may shrink a little, but more than likely they will stay like that forever...I've had 2 friends that had their lobes surgically repaired...yikes! So--don't do it.

im sure it depends how big you go as well.

i know some of my friends say once you get to like an inch you're kind of screwed... but i dont know. i cant imagine having a big hole in your ear and then expecting it to actually close/look normal completely.

It depends how big/fast you go. If you keep it small, and go slow, they will.

But, you shouldn't do it. They're trendy and look terrible.
