Um, yeah. Black people feel racism, Hispanics feel racism, Arabs feel racism (they REALLY feel racism in these days), Chinese feel racism, Indians feel racism, whites feel racism. Sometimes day-to-day life isn't affected, for some people. For others, it is. Imagine being a Sikh who works in an airport.
My experience? I'm Indian living in a pretty diverse part of the country, but I've still had my share of racism. One moment that still hurts is when a friend of mine, during a heated argument, called me a cow-worshipper. Ordinarily that phrase would have made me laugh, but because I knew it wasn't a joke this time and she meant for it to be offensive, I was hurt. And I've definitely felt bad vibes on American Airlines flight; I don't know why it's that specific airline, but whenever I've flown with them, the white flight attendants were nice to pretty much everyone but the non-whites. On other airlines, I was treated perfectly fine.
I have black friends who have been discriminated against, who have been followed in stores by security guards. I have a white friend who went to a black-majority school and while there was no outright racism, she didn't make any friends and heard people call her bad names behind her back.
Racism is experienced by everyone in America, even if segregation is illegal, even if we're taught to celebrate diversity, it's still here.
My sister in law told me the other day that they left a shopping store because they were followed by an employee from department to department. They are african american and make over 200 grand a year and in no way in a position to where they have to steal anything. My brother in law told me that whenever he walks down a street on his lunch break, women clutch their purses tighter and he wears a suit to work everyday so he doesn't fit the 'thug' quota. Racism is still in america and it can effect day to day life if you are the victim of it.
Yes non whites experience racism in America. There are people in the South and North who think that Blacks should still be slaves. There are people committing hate crimes against Arabs and Muslims. Native Americans are still stereotyped as being savages. Mexicans are being discriminated against in the USA.
Sure, I feel it all the time. From the time someone bashed in my car windows on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor (I'm from Nagasaki) to the stupid Asian ethnic stereotypes I find on TV, film and online, it never ceases to amaze me.
But I roll with it. It doesn't bother me like it used to, because I feel that whoever has a problem with me or my race has way more hate in their heart than I could ever care to.
No! you could pass out of the situations of your poverty, yet you won't be able to pass out of the colour of your pores and skin. Whites, regardless of how undesirable, uneducated or grungily dressed, will ever be subjected to the uniform point of suspicion by using people who do no longer understand them, as are minorities. you could take any undesirable white individual, positioned them in new clothing, walk them into any upscale garment or jewelry save like those modern-day in long island, and that they'll afforded a point of understand no minority scientific expert or criminal expert will receive in the same employer. Please forgive my sarcasm. Are you friggin nutz?!? ON A DAILY BASIS, LIFE CAN BE AFFECTED THROUGH RACISM; Blatant or Hidden.
Experiences are too many to list over the course of my life. Let's just say, EXCLUSIVITY is the backbone upon which americanism and anglo-saxon ideologies are FOUNDED.
Honey, where have you been? Black people experience racism ALL the time...I mean, look at these pasties participating in Yahoo answers...too bad they're humble as pie in reality and choose to hide behind computers...tsk, tsk.
Well, there's this black kid who works graveyard at a grocery store i frequent. He's kind to EVERYONE but me. He doesn't speak to me at all. After he rings the groceries up, he doesn't turn on the conveyor. He makes me reach over the counter to grab my stuff. I don't know.
It might be my shaved head. It might be my piercings. I think he's Mormon. I'd be more comfortable to hate him back for being Mormon rather than Black.
