The other day I was thinking about health care and what issues many transgender and transsexual (or people with transsexual pasts) have with doctors. One of the biggest questions I couldn't figure out is if transsexual women need prostate exams and how would a transsexual woman bring it up to their doctor? Do many women just ignore it in the same way many men do?

A transsexual woman is a woman who was born physically male. Some transsexual women have not had hormone replacement therapy and so for them prostate cancer could still be a concern. Some women even "pass" before HRT. Since it's pretty hard for someone to hide her physical state from her own doctor, she would probably search long and hard for an accepting doctor who takes her insurance (assuming she's lucky enough to have insurance) and the doctor would probably recommend it. I'm sure some women would avoid the doctor altogether. As the other poster said, after HRT it's not a concern.
Yes, Incidence of Prostate Cancer in Trans Women after Hormone treatment and Genital surgery
is rare, but not unknown.
Even after 40 years on HRT a Trans Woman still had malignancy of the prostate
Those who do not have hormone treatment and or surgery are at similar risk to natal men (1in 6 men get prostate cancer)
I m a twenty plus years post op transwoman, the other day my physician asked me if I had a prostate and I could not answer him. That is what led me to search today.
While my several hours of on-line research has uncovered that I definitely have one my odds of having prostate csmcer are very low.
Those who started HRT after age fifty, however, seem to be st a greater risk.
There you have it, my two cents
Once a man always a man to me not being ignorant and I respect peoples difference but they still have a anus and can have prostate cancer.
