On December 21st 2012 it was a cold windy night. I was sitting in the comfort of my own room where it was warm and I had something to do. I was reading about the life of Buddha and the Mayans. I found myself lost in awe in their greatness and mastery. Stimulated by my curiosity and love for these people and their teachings I decided to honor them by doing what Buddha did when he became enlightened. I went outside into the cold darkness and sat quietly under a tree and meditated. I did not last long. The cold and wind that night made me miserable. I soon gave in, and gravitated back to my room, where it was warm and there was something to do. I felt like a complete failure. I felt shamed that I could not become enlightened to honor them on this great day. A week later, while contemplating the big bang and my actions that night I suddenly had a revelation... I realized that I am the universe, and the universe behaves the same way I do. The universe is expanding and cooling down, heading for quiet stillness, just as I had experienced that night. And when it gets there we will experience the void that is darkness and cold. And after experiencing this Hell for just seven days we won't be able to bear it any more, the gravity of our love for life and companionship will reignite the fire that was the big bang, like an atom bomb going off on a universal scale, and so, we will recreate heaven. We will come back into the room where it is warm and we have something to do. It truly is a blessing.
Consciousness is life, living force. Is no curse nor blessing. Consciousness, or the sense of “I am,” is the primary symptom of the presence of the soul in the living entity. There is pure consciousness and contaminated consciousness. Contaminated consciousness is when the living entity’s consciousness may be pervertedly reflected by the covering of material contact, just as light reflected through colored glass may appear to be of a certain color. Then the living being acts in the material platform trying to exploit and enjoy material nature, then he become cursed.
It all depends on your point of observation. If you perceive things mostly from the ego then it is more likely to appear as a curse. As thoughts of morality and ethics can be viewed as road blocks in the mind that prohibits you from attaining things you desire such as power.
I wouldn't be able to consider it if I wasn't conscious so I think it is a blessing though i hate using that word because I don't believe in god or any religion for that matter.

It depends on what's happening it can be either.
I conclude neither. Its personal, and doesn't fit in with my logic.
It is a necessity.
