Even though this question might be one of the most frequently asked questions in this category, my answer would never change; transgender women are not real women. Being a woman is based on strict biological criteria. The criteria required to be a real woman are having XX chromosomes at birth. Starting off, to be a real woman, people are required to be adult human females with XX chromosomes at birth. Transgender women are people that were born with often healthy XY chromosomes, which makes them men. Whether a person is male or female depends on his or her reproductive roles. For example, a male is determined by being able to produce sperm cells and impregnate females and a female is determined by being able to produce egg cells and give birth. Transgender women, assuming that they haven't undergone surgery, have the male organs that produce the cells required to impregnate women due to their XY chromosomes. Simply changing the form of those organs or removing them completely along with acquiring other sexually dimorphic body parts such as breasts through hormone therapy and surgery does not make the person any less of a man. Instead, his body has been altered to completely resemble a woman's body. For instance, if a person altered the appearance of a black woman by bleaching her skin, replacing her hair texture with straighter hair, and performing various surgeries to make her look white, she would still be a black woman because the characteristics that she altered still exist in her DNA. The same logic applies to being transgender. Thus, transgender women are not real women.
Yes i do! Transgender women are 'real' women!! They were born women, how you might ask? Well, when a transgender person is born they are born with a female brain but a male physical body (in a male to female case)! Therfore in some way shape or form they are born women. Many say they are not women because they do not have women's internal reproductive organs, but some 'biological' women cannot bear children, some women do not get periods, some women are born with NO female internal organs (there was a lady in the USA), so does that mean that these 'biological' women are not women because they do not have the female reproductive organs? Of course not!! It is not a choice to be transgender. It is pre-determined. There was a case in the UK where a woman was born with a vagina and female internal organs but later discovered she did not have female DNA! But, she would still more then likely be classed as a woman, because she is. So yes, Transgender Women are women.
I happen to think that trans women are real women. But let me open this up and put some other thoughts out there for people to consider.
It depends on what you consider a "real" women... Let's get philosophical and ask if it's enough for someone to "believe" they are something in order for that to be true. Is it enough for me, for example, to believe that I'm Italian in order for me to be Italian? What if I believe I'm the manifestation of some ancient Native American spirit? Does that make it true?
What about growing up and experiencing what it's like to be a girl child, including the kind of crap that young girls go through in adolescence? Suffering through cramps, periods, bloating... The dump in self esteem that routinely happens about the time that puberty sets in. The other things, including being treated "like a girl" - meaning not quite as good as boys. Does any of that count toward being a "real woman"?
All of these are things to ponder. There are some thinkers who believe that being a woman is more than having your body altered by drugs and surgery. I don't know the full answer. And maybe there is more we need to think about.
Yes. There is scientific evidence supporting transgenderism. Trans people are often born with the brain structure of the opposite sex. Being male or female is actually a mental state. Gender has never been as simple as a person a penis is male, a person with a vagina is female. Society wants it to be that simple, but it will never be. For example there intersexed conditions, which cause an individual to not be classifiable within one category scientifically. I feel that trans people are greatly like the intersexed as they are also gender variant. I think it is really a matter of self identity. If a person for any reason feels that they are female then they are. If you want a simple way to determine one's gender, that sounds like a pretty simple one to me.
If they are real women then we would never know that they were once a man.
Transgender people do seem to have a need to tell their personal background.
The question should never arise because we should never know that there has been a change.
Also why have the title transgender. If you are now a woman then be called a woman. You had a sex change/ re assignment and so you CHANGED and are now a woman.
If someone wants to be a woman then stop telling us that you were once a man.
A single man looking for a woman would find clinically feminized xy people to be a danger and a threat. An established married man wouldn't bother to worry.
A woman is an extremely complex creature and it is impossible for scientists to create one out of a test tube. To turn a man into a woman is something only God can do. The idea that you can hire a surgeon and a psychologist to turn a man into a woman is a humongous stretch. They can cause a man to mimic a woman close enough to deceive the untrained eye. That would be a faux-woman. There are men with a feminine spirit within them, such men might believe that it makes them a woman. That female spirit can trick an observer, just as a dissembler, trained to do so; can pass a lie detector test. There are men who sincerely believe that they are Napoleon Bonaparte.
If you have a Y chromosome, you are a man, no matter how much you mutilate your genitals.
Would you consider Mogli a wolf just because he feels lie he belongs in a wolf's body, having been brought up by them? Even if he had an operation to grow a tail and fur all over his body he would never be a wolf.
Of course! When people think of women, they think of feminine and the color pink, when anyone is capable of the real traits of a woman. Hardworking, loving, and passionate. Your body is what you were given, but it doesn't define what your personality should be like. Just because you weren't born to have periods or babies, does NOT mean you're not ALLOWED to desire that. I mean guys always have wondered what it's like to have boobs or a girls body when grabs women are the ones who deserve it haha. It's what's inside that counts, not what hangs off your body.
