Not really, but when I'm in my kayak or a canoe and I'm in really clear deep water it feels more like you are flying than floating. I can see how that would freak out someone with a fear of heights (which is most of us). Even though I'm a strong swimmer and I generally have no fear of the water, it does tickle my funny bone just a little when I'm in deep clear water. Opaque water not so much.

Not particularly. I have been swimming off the Great Bahama Bank (light blue). Nothing much to see after you hit the drop-off (dark blue).
