Soap in a bar is usually the one that smells best, although you can get really nice smelling pump soap too. Soap in a bar lasts longer than pump containers. Pump containers have anti germ stuff which is good, also soap in a pump is more hygienic is you have to share it with lots of people; that's why in malls, restaurants or other public places you don't get soap bars, you get pumps. I personallyy prefer the pump method although I keep both in my bathroom! :)
Pump soap is more convenient and easier to use. It can be very hard to use a bar soap and get a good lather quickly. Plus, it's easier to find antibacterial pump soap.
