It seems that McCain has given up on his own positions, principled positions, in favor of party, while Obama isn't afraid to incur the wrath of the left and be more moderate. He has my respect, and my vote.

I am a Republican, but I'm voting for Obama.. So, to me party loyality is less important than policy.. I believe that its time for change.. I don't like the direction our nation is headed
Party loyalty goes no where with me, I vote for the person who best reflects my own views. I respect McCain's service to his country, but in my view he will say just about anything to win this election. I can't tell whether he is a Conservative or moderate from day to day. In most of his speeches lately he is only disputing what Obama has said or done, and that seems to evoke a kind of desperation about him, I think his time has passed. Obama projects a new vision of how to see and approach things, which I find refreshing, he has my vote also!
Absolutely not.
I'm conservative and I'm not a fan of Bush. But just because I dislike Bush doesn't mean I'll never vote for a Republican again. And I've listened to all the canidates from the Green party to the Libertarian party - I'm voting for Bob Barr because I don't trust Obama or McCain, and the green party is out becuase I think enviornmentalists are selfish idiots who would rather put an animal's well being above his fellow man.
Honestly, I think this Bush Derangement Syndrome has gotten a little out of control.
I used to vote hard-core Republican.
I am voting third party for the first time ever this year (Barr, Libertarian)
I just can't agree with the war on Iraq, or more big government spending. Bush has increased the national debt and government programs by large amounts, eroded our freedoms even more (Patriot act) and even created a whole new bureaucracy (Department of Homeland security), and as liberal as McCain is, he will only increase the size of government by more. Republicans have fallen far away from their Constitutionalist principles, and they're not ready to return. Ron Pauls campaign proved that...
That being said, its time for me to move on to a party that truly DOES support small-government ideals.
Absolutely not. I have registered with a party, as I find I agree with them more than I agree with other parties. But I flat_out_REFUSE to be a lamb led to slaughter out of blind loyalty. My party has no loyalty to me...why should I be loyal to them?
Also, I don't agree with all of their policies. I think both parties have gone to such extremes over the years that it's almost impossible for ANYONE to completely agree with either party.
It's absolutely worth looking at every issue with an open mind. Anyone who ignores "the other side of the story" is a fool, and can't possibly be qualified to lead our country.
Obama is moving to the center as all politicians do once the nomination is over.
McCain realizes that his plan to abandon the base of the Republican party in lieu of pandering to centrist voters has backfired and is now trying to backpedal to pick up votes on the right.
Neither has my respect nor my vote.
Policy insight. I don't agree with your assessment regarding Obama's views. He invokes party loyalty to any unrelenting HIlary supporter.
any politician is party loyalty first otherwise they would not be allowed to run as that party...u do not think that either mccain or obaba are out there on their own they both have strings that are being pulled
I respect them both, but McCain has not given up on his policies. He means to maintain the war until we win, and he isn't going to tax the American voter to pay for health-care for illegals. Obama will though, since illegals won't pay for their own, they're law breakers anyway, and should be deported, not rewarded for committing a crime against us.
Good points, all. It seems candidates can never be everything we want them to be. You just have to make the selection based on what you consider to be best for the nation. Hopefully, voters will consider all of the issues and make the best informed choice.
