Yes. Reasonable gun control is absolutely necessary.
Edit: Some of the answers above highlight why this issue is not being approached reasonably in this country. Our gun violence rates are higher than in any other developed country and will only get worse unless we adopt reasonable measures.
No, every state should have gun laws similar to alaska, no permit required for concealed, open carry allowed at 14.
A ban on fully automatic weapons is a load of crap too, an hour or two in my machine shop and a semi auto can become fully auto. (never have done it but could if I wanted to)
Hi capacity magazines ban is a load too, same deal with that, I can make one in an hour. (A baby browning with a 20 round mag that works was the only time I have ever made one)
Silencers are don't make a gun anymore dangerous either, they make quieter and reduce recoil great for training new shooters.
It is stupid to think your background checks do a crap either, require me to do a background check at a gun show and that is where I draw the line and stop obeying the law, because I am not going to do it.
No. Every State that has passed a " Shall issue" law for concealed carry has seen a drop in violent crime. The criminals will not apply for a permit anyway. Knowing the guy behind them in the 7-11 may have a weapon is an effective deterrent. I note one of the most vociferous anti-gunners shot an intruder not long agol Funny how that worked out. A couple of concealed carry folks in the crowd might well have reduced the carnage in AZ. And we would not have the expense of a trial.
As a conservative, I support gun limitation, which is not the same as gun control.
Guns should be allowed. People should be allowed to own, and use guns for hunting and defensive purposes (god forbid the situation comes around). To take away the right to own guns is to take away part of the liberty America has to offer.
However, guns should have limits. Guns these days have the capabilities to kill hundreds of people, while be stored in your back pocket. People should only be allowed to own less powerful versions of rifles. People should have more limits to owning hand guns, they are too prevalent today and most murders take place with hand guns (because they are easy to hide and not like rifles where you in essence say: "LOOK AT ME I HAS A GUN").
In the sense of requiring a license and passing a test yes; in the sense of banning guns, no. In the sens of concealed carry, I don't know anyone I would trust with a gun except a very few so I oppose that.
Politically speaking - it translates to an infringement upon my natural right of self defense and my Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms and be part of a well organized citizen militia.

Referring to a proper grip on the weapon, yes.

Yeah, I support keeping guns out of the hands of crazies and criminals.
Yes I do.
Sight picture
Breath control
A slow steady squeeze
Anything more than that is a violation of my 2nd Amendment right.
Yes, in the broadest sense - I support guns being kept from the unhinged, the insane and certain criminals.
I also support the restriction on some kinds of gun ownership - ie military weapons.
