I support our Constitution. We have the right to bear arms (unless you are a criminal, then you forfeit that right) but the government does not have the right to tell a law abidiing citizen that they can't own a firearm
I do support gun control, but only lighter measures. I believe all gun owners should have a license to use them, just like drivers. Guns are deadly and there should be a course for a license. Also, like cars, all guns ought to be registered.
I think a person should be 18 years old to possess a gun and should have to undergo a background check.
I also think the waiting period is a good thing. Someone should not be allowed to walk into a weapon store and walk out with a gun. Why were they buying a gun? If it is because they are pissed and want to shoot someone, the waiting period will force them to cool off first.
I am all for the second amendment, but I do think if these measures were enforced, gun violence would drop.
Thing is, you gotta do it the right way. I don't think a mere law would be constitutional, you'd need an amendment. We have the right to bear arms, and even if it's controlled we would still have that right, but it makes perfect sense to limit who can get them.
The constitution was written at a time where more people adhered to the Christian set of morals. Very few people would commit crimes with the guns they owned, and people understood the guns were for defending the country more than anything else. Not so today. Unfortunately there's is much more crime (and I would say it is because we as a society are moving away from religion, but you can call it whatever you like) and guns are a way to cause more damage in that crime. Guns aren't bad, the people using them are bad.
I oppose gun control, except for in the case of felons and those who are deemed mentally incompetent. I think that there should still be a background check, but other than that, I think that anyone who passes the tests and is at least 16 years old should be able to buy a gun. As the great Western author Louis L'Amour once wrote, "The thieves an' the killers are gonna have guns, so if the honest men don't have 'em, they just make it easier for the vicious."
I oppose them. I'm ok with gun registration but not banning them. Only law abiding citizens follow the law. Criminals do not which makes the laws really useless. If the intent is to stop crime committed with guns then it's not working.
If the intent is to simply take guns away from good people then it's working.
The original idea behind the 2nd amendment was to give people protection against their rulers.
Now it's taken on a more sinister but real meaning of people protecting themselves against other people.
If you ban all guns then only criminals will have them AND you will make criminals out of regular citizens. Just like prohibition and most drug laws.
I support moderate gun control. I think, for the safety of officers reporting to any situation, it's an important - and possibly life-saving - piece of information to have.
I think it's important to keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill people. If people have violent pasts, it's unwise to hand them a gun.
Likewise, I think the waiting period makes sense. The premise was to make people wait in case they had an emotional happening that made them want to shoot people.
These are all common sense measures that no body is hurt or hindered from.
A theory espoused by some people; who claim to believe, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.
I support licensing because of murders. It makes it a little more difficult for criminals to use a gun without a trail to hide.
And RPG's stuff like that. I don't see a use for...except fun. And maybe we could even allow those but only with a training course on safety and storage, etc. Then you'd have to have designated areas to use them in.
I think everyone should own and know how to use firearms.
I've got no problem with licensing and registration, provided the costs are kept low, perhaps a couple of bucks per firearm. I'm against enforced training. Gun owners should be responsible but it's not the government's job to force that.

Support, but NEVER total prohibition.

Gun Control Defined.......
A theory espoused by some people; who claim to believe, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

I support some gun regulation.
It's like weapons of mass destruction right..
It's okay for some people to have them, we just don't want every crazy guy with a grudge getting his hand on them?
If we can police and regulate the world for weapons we should be doing it at home too.
Or are we just above our own policies for the world?
Americans have a right to bear arms. Keep the guns, and some common sense regulation.
I've got no problem with licensing and registration, provided the costs are kept low, perhaps a couple of bucks per firearm. I'm against enforced training. Gun owners should be responsible but it's not the government's job to force that.
The only gun control that we need is good aim, I oppose any and all registration and regulations of fire ams for any adult in this country!
May God Bless you and I wish you a very Merry Christmas
