Hell ya it was! I was the only mexican in East-LA who bet a lot of money on Pacman. Why?
1. This was never a fight it was a Business move.
2. Oscar never even ran for this fight. He didn't even spar like he should of.
3. Everyone that really knows boxing noticed he never wanted hurt Pacman. It was obvious...
4. He almost killed himself to get to 145 last time he fought @ 147 was in 2000 VS Mosley.
How can anyone really think Oscar had a chance? Check out what Sergio Mora told me after the fight. Also What Edwin Valero said of Oscar's training in Big Bear.
Update:@ JP De-La's GBP get's a cut of Pacman fights. He got the Ricky Hatton fight next. Its all about money Pride and losing does not matter. Dont u remember the B-hop fight? Didnt u find it funny he signed with GBP after the fight?
Update 3:@ Ragad Oscar wanted this to be he's last fight. He didnt even train for this fight what makes you think he wanted to win? If he wins Pacman drops stock takes a dip. Wheres does Oscar go? He didnt want Cotto or Margarito Remember? Also the smaller Forbes gave him problems. As for not eating after the weight in, It makes perfect sense that was all worked out. Why would he eat? Speed? What about size? He could count on being fast VS. Pacquiao. He honored their agreement in still low in weight. He could of gained 10 pounds. Not once did he try to push pacman around. IT WAS FIXED! Just like the Clottey fight.

Was a fixed fight, I don't think so, but I do think that it was more of a business move than an actual fight. Golden Boy Promotions needs Oscar Dela Hoya's money to operate and this fight served more as a fund raiser than a serious fight and I'll explain.
First Oscar Dela Hoya and Floyd Mayweather had one of the highest grossing Pay Per View fights of all time, but when Floyd Mayweather abruptly retired in 2007 Oscar didn't have anybody else of equal marquee value to make money with. He approached Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto but after both fighters turned him down Manny Pacqauio was next.
Second He knew he could sell the fight because a lot of Mexican fans would have loved to see Oscar Dela Hoya beat Manny Pacqauio after what he'd done to Morales, Barrera, and Marquez. So what Oscar did was avoided weight and used his star power to take the most lucrative fight possible.
With that being said I think Oscar underestimated Manny Pacqauio and took him lightly, he cared more about the money he'd make from that fight than the fight itself. He weight drained himself for a payday but he forgot when you drain yourself you give the smaller man the advantage.
I don't think the winner was fixed but the reason for the fight was fixed and Oscar only looked to make money of that fight it had nothing to do with proving anything.
No amount that ODLH could get as a cut for Pacman fights could be as huge as what ODLH could have gotten had he won. If he had won, he would have still had a boxing career. And guess what, he would still have gotten a cut for the next Pacquiao fights. I've heard these conspiracy theories before. I'm surprised nobody accused Oscar of taking a dive for the Mob which could have been more plausible. Oscar was in the middle of a disagreement with Roach, and I'm pretty sure he didn't like the way Manny left him out in the rain when he was dumped.
Now assuming he intended to lose the fight, lets remember he didn't just lose the fight. He humiliated himself! That was the worst beating ODLH has ever had in his career and just about a year before, he almost beat Mayweather! Just look at his eyes while he sat in his chair. That is the look of someone who realized that he is at the end of his career. Now tell me that anyone would want to subject himself to that kind of pain?
Also, answer me this. If ODLH intended to lose anyway, why didn't he bother to eat after the weigh in? Logic dictates that he would have done something easier, like go to McDonalds and pig out. But apparently he still tried to keep his weight low, perhaps as a strategy where he thought he needed to keep his speed. One does not make an effort not to eat just to lose. One can easily lose no matter what weight he is in.
There were perhaps a couple miscalculations. Nobody back then considered Manny a welterweight. Everybody just assumed he was too small for the weight class. Well it turns out Manny is a true welterweight. And a damn better welterweight than a featherweight.
Really? your the only mexican that bet a lot of money on pacman. Why? did you happen to talk to all mexican in L.A one by one, that is why you concluded that your the only mexican in east LA who bet a lot of money on pacman. Not very convincing dude.LOL.
Do you really think that the PPV king and a handsome man would accept that beating if he knows that pacquiao will going to beat him that bad. I dont believe he will fight pacquiao if he already knows that his gonna lose to pac with that kind of humiliation. Dela hoya fought pac for only one reason. He wants to beat pac and bully him because he was angry with pac signing with top rank.hehe. Too bad pac is a great fighter.hehe..
Do you really think the PPV King (that time) would want to tarnish his record with a humiliating loss against a dwarf? He hated Pacquiao for not signing with him and so he tried to bully the "dwarf" and set up his glorious retirement fight from boxing. Too bad it backfired. What can be more humiliating than a fighter quitting on his chair? Oh wait, I suddenly remembered it's more humiliating to quit even before the fight was made!
ricardo, you know boxing but you dont know mexican pride. oscar never want to hurt pac? how can you hurt someone you cannot hit? por pabor amigo, get your facts straight. delahoya CLEARLY underestimates that fight. he wanted to finish the fight early, because he knows he doesnt have enough on the gas tank. you guys kept on saying he was weight drained, thats the plan, he wanted to match pacquiaos speed by not putting much weight and finish him in the early goings. besides, it was his choice to come up to the ring more or less 145 or 147, when he could replenish and weigh 160 plus come fight night. if you think its fixed, its your opinion.
if you're a pac hater, then of course you'll say that it was fixed. but if you're a real boxing fan, you'd probably say it wasn't. why? because why do you even watch boxing when you believe it's fixed?
why would you even think that dlh want to tarnish his legacy and end his career with a loss?
why would a legend like him make himself look like a quitter after years of building himself up with wins?
why would a guy who promote other boxers take a dive just to make a boxer like pacquiao who isn't even under his promotion look good?
it doesn't make sense
pacquiao was just too fast for him. everytime he opens up, pacquiao's gloves gets delivered straight to his face.
"Its all about money Pride and losing does not matter"
It's funny that you mentioned this because Floyd fans have repeatedly mentioned before that "winning" is the only thing that matters. They will probably roast you alive if you tell them that.
But yes maybe DLH is now a promoter but he could have just matched Pacquiao with one of his boxers and forced him to lose and kept his pride intact.
But DLH taking a dive when his boxers can do it for him? I dunno about that. It's easy for fans to say that pride doesn't matter. But when you spent your lifetime trying to build up a name for yourself, only to personally tarnish it by taking a dive ... then it's a lot harder than it looks.
I cannot speak for DLH but yes, some people think that money is everything. But I don't.
LOL... is that you RIC LOPEZ... everyday your gettin' unsmart.
hahhahahahha...
it was not a fix fight... it's just OSCAR can't handle the punches of Pacquiao, look at what happen to HATTON.
hhahahahahahahaha...LOL
the story was all the best Mexican boxers are PUNCH DOWN by Pacquiao.. the last one was ODLH..
Nothing personal here but anything that was fixed here is your thought, all who sees that fight will not agree with your thoughts.
it was fixed by your mom
