Depression doesn't always cause self harm, and self harm isn't always caused by depression, but they can be related. If your self harm is caused by depression, you need to get help for your depression. Your doctor should do something about this, and he is capable of admitting you to the hospital.
about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn't go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life.
She was very worried but at the same time couldn't understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn't let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all.
After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased this program. The results were simply astonishing. I read this book over three times and put all words in action. Using this method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I'm still living happily with my girlfriend.
Don't listen to some of these idiots that don't know anything about depression or probably much of anything. Yes it can cause self harm and lots of other things. I would highly recommend that you find a new doctor! that is definitely not something that should be taken lightly! you should get help for it asap, you do not want it to get progressively worse. So you need to find out what exactly is causing you have those thoughts and impulses. It can get better!
Depression is largely in one's head. Self harm is entirely in your head. You can be admitted in a hospital for it, however, that's a slippery slope of being able to blame all your problems on depression and "something being wrong" with you. So why not try to overcome the depression, rather than assume that it's all downhill from here?
ive been working on trying to stop, and mine is triggered by anxiety.
i just start feeling like im flying apart and i cant breathe and the pain helps me focus on something else because it gets through the anxiety and it helps me control my panic attacks. and yeah, i know its not healthy.
its hard to stop self harming, it really is. its harder for me to relate to depression self harm, but i imagine its just as hard to stop, and theres no one way that works for everyone.
melancholy is a chemical imbalance contained in the physique, it would not could desire to have a reason. And the self harm, jointly because it won't help the melancholy, it in many circumstances comes after the melancholy.
No, depression can make you want to harm yourself, but being an idiot is what actually makes you cause self harm to yourself, then blame it on depression. You should go to a hospital, get help, before you have a million scars on your wrists/or wherever, and people stare and you can't get a good job.
