From the picture.. yes, she looks fine. I think her weight is ok and she has a nice shiny coat.

Don't worry about the weight, large breeds take a while to put on weight. All the energy is going into growing. Don't try to feed more then she needs or you will end up with a very big fat dog. Only feed what the Vet recommends.

I went through the same thing as you with my APBT. She was not gaining weight. At one year she was big and skinny. I did not change anything as far as feeding her. By two she was nothing but solid muscle and the most friendly dog in the world.

Danes are great dogs. They will take a few years to grow because of their size. She will go through being skinny for a while. She will not start getting muscle and weight for another year or more. You got yourself a dog that will be a puppy for another year or more.

She looks fine. Remember Great Danes and Large Breed dogs grow very fast so it's hard to keep up when they grow so quickly. Are you feeding her Large Breed Puppy formula dog food? Have you increased the amount she gets, and are you feeding 3 times a day? Just check the back of the bag it will give you portion size in ratio to age.

I've seen some full grown Great Danes that in my opinion are too skinny, but she looks fine. She should have an hour glass shape when viewed from above. What does your vet think?

There are a few things that can be said based only on the picture shown-

The coat is healthy and thick, no ribs or backbone can be seen, but the waist is also not thick, so weight looks good. I can't see the knees very well, but it looks like they are not too straight (straight knees in a dog are higher risk for ligament rupture).

The ears, lips, and eyes do not appear red in color or irritated, indicating an absence of allergies.

At 5 months, for a Dane, she looks in good condition. There is one piece of advice I would give and that is to put her on adult dry dog chow if you haven't already. Super large breeds will develop joint disorders on puppy chow, they grow way too fast. Even so-called large breed puppy chow is too hot for them, after 5 months or so she should be eating only adult dry food.

What does she weigh? My 18 week old Dane is at about 55 lbs. Your dane should be well covered, but not skinny. You shouldn't see her ribs clearly, except the last one. You don't want to see her hip bones sticking up on top by her tail.

We feed Canidea All Life Stages, plus some other vitamins and stuff reccommended by Linda Arndt (www.GreatDaneLAdy.com). He was knuckling over right after we got him at 8 weeks, but the right food fixed him up.

Hello, Your puppy looks healthy to me, but looks can be deceiveing. Does she seem active and go to the potty regularly. Are her eyes bright? Does she like the new food? Why do you ask? Does she have any symptoms?

Since the change in food, if you have seen that she seems content and looks good to you, she probably is. Check her mouth and ears if she seems sickly. If you are still in doubt, get in touch with a Vet.

Pretty girl....beautiful coat! Don't know enough danes personally to say, but she doesn't look underweight to me....they do tend to shoot up, then fill out later. What does the vet have to say?

I would just make sure you are feeding her a good quality puppy food- preferably a large breed formula.

she looks healthy. her coat is lush and shiny, no dry skin or flakes, (caused by poor diet) her ribs are not showing and her backbone is not showing.

Continue to monitor her weight and how much/often she eats. After a month, take it to your vet with a checkup and you can talk it over with your vet.

I had to put my dog on dry food for about 6 months. He hated it and barely touched it. I watched him loose pound after pound and when I could feel his backbone when I petted him, I told my vet that something had to be done.

He bounced back to his normal weight in just a couple of months and is healthy and happy.

She is adorable. Danes are pretty lanky dogs anyway.. they don't get fat alot. You may want to increase her food intake and try a different food..

Also get her checked for worms. Puppies that don't gain weight are loaded with round worms. And they can transfer to you..

She's gorgeous!!!! She is not that underweight that I can see. they are naturally thin dogs, and should be kept that way. Their bones and muscles are heavy enough, and extra weight will cause MAJOR health problems in danes. Keep in mind she's still a growing girl.
