No Manny, the only thing Her Majesty controls, is her temper, over how some of the citizens in Canada refer to her. The infantile personal insults, the stupid petty jibes, as though she can personally do anything to change the situation. She can't just say, Well, I have had enough of all this! even if she wanted to. Instead of the dissatisfied in Canada insulting her, they should get on to their representative and demand the changes that they want. I am sure that HM can do without the hassle of some tadpoles, who keep insisting that if they don't get their own way, they are going to take their ball home. Just let them do what they want to do but do it sooner rather than later. It really is becoming tiresome and the same applies to any other of the Commonwealth realm countries, where the inhabitants are so dissatisfied with their lot. Referendum after referendum, just let them make up their minds once and for all.
HM Queen Elizabeth II is Queen of Canada. She reigns over Canada, but, her powers are constitutionally limited. Hew powers are mostly delegated to her Governor General, however, she has the power to hire and fire the Government, appoint the Prime Minister, Senators, Judges, Cabinet Members, and military officers. All the sorts of things a Head of State would do. But, she is not an absolute monarch - no "off with his head" stuff.
So, she is the "boss," and has real power, but, she cannot be said to control Canada.
If she did "control " Canada don't you think she would be in residence in Ottawa rather than the U.K. ?
Sir Ichiban has hit the nail on the head with his answer,if you do not like it ,have the "Guts " to do something about it ,instead of forever bleating .
My overall feelings about Canada is one of gratitude, their help through two World Wars ,from the beginning of hostilities I hasten to add, food sent to the U.K. to help with our shortages,I was a grateful recipient, my thanks go to ALL Canadians .
But if you want out of the Commonwealth,do something about it ,your beginning to grate the nerves a bit with your OVINE behaviour .
The British monarchy has no place in modern Canadian society. Canada needs to be strong and totally independent! When the queen dies, the monarchy in Canada needs to die with her.
No, of course not. She is Head of State in Canada as she is in the UK, but she is NOT Head of Government. In both nations, her role is primarily symbolic and ceremonial. The governments are run by the Prime Ministers and legislators, elected by the people.
That's what constitutional monarchies are all about.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second reigns over 16 equal, separate & independent kingdoms around the world.
Canada is one of them, just like the UK is also one.
She doesn't control Canada or any of the governments of any of her realms.
(Nor do the governments of any of those nations control the governments of any the others.)
I recommend reading this:
"A Crown of Maples - Constitutional Monarchy in Canada" - http://www.pch.gc.ca/queen/crncdn/tdm-eng.cfm
Link - http://www.pch.gc.ca/queen/crncdn/tdm-eng.cfm
It explains how our Monarchy works & Chapter 4 explains the Queen's part in things.
