Just a curious question. My baby girl wanted nothing to do with one. She is now 6 months old, and still refuses it. I kinda wish sometimes she would take it, because she is exclusively breastfed, pulling out my boob isnt always avaliable for her. Any other mom have a baby like this. Is this unusual?

I have a baby like this! She doesn't like the bottle either. And, from what my mom has told me, my sister and I were both like this as well. I was still a little surprised though, because my first daughter was the complete opposite and we had to wean her off of the pacifier when she was 2. I was actually just talking to another mom about this the other day and she said her son didn't like the pacifier as a baby and only liked to nurse, but took to the pacifier when she weaned him off of nursing (at 18 mos). He just happened to find it one day, stuck it in and liked it. So I guess you never know ...
My 2nd daughter (now 10 months) will play with a pacifier now and mostly chew on it. But at least it keeps her occupied when she's in the car seat/stroller and doesn't want to be.
My son refused it and I breastfed him on demand also which was pretty often. As long as she isn't using you as a pacifier and is actually eating when you breastfed her then it isn't a problem. Some babies just don't care for them. It is probably a weird feeling for a breastfed baby since they aren't used to having rubber in their mouths. It can also be a good thing since it is one less habit you have to break them of later. Anyway, when I did want him to use it, like when he got himself worked up too much so that he would throw up, I dipped it into breast milk and he took it sometimes but usually for just a few minutes. That was fine because I just wanted it to calm him down. So I think your situation is pretty normal.
I tried with my first and second babies to take a pacifier but it was not happening! If something was put in their mouths there better be stuff coming out- but they would take a water bottle so that was good. I did not even try with number 3 or 4. My 4th did suck her thumb until about 9 months old but only to sleep.
And they were all bottle fed.
You dont prefer a pacifier. They do look to help soothe some infants to sleep. in case you prefer you need to purchase some distinctive ones to attempt along with your infant, in view that all infants look to have distinctive possibilities. i attempted the NUK ones and my daughter spit it out. She took nicely to the Soothies kind pacifier so we've been utilising them, yet in basic terms in some circumstances while she seems to be particularly drained and complicated to settle asleep on her very own (shes in basic terms 2 months good now). only keep in mind your infant might or won't even have an interest in the pacifier, and which you will might desire to pass by way of some trial and mistake to discover the outstanding one that your infant will settle for. relating to the deformation of your infant's tooth, i've got faith like it is an old better halves tale. in the journey that your infant seems to prefer one and might settle for a undeniable variety of pacifier, i might say use it. while the infant is stressful to calm down, you would be happy you stumbled on some thing to maintain them content as a replace of screaming at you uncontrollably.
You just described my daughter all over again...lol
Your girl is so normal. Its nice when they will take a pacifier, but believe me it is even better later on when they didnt because then you dont have the trouble of breaking the habbit. The other plus is they show their smile more for you....you can get alot more pictures on your camera without a pacifier always in her mouth!
Good question, will be fun to see what others say!
Yes my son is the exact same way. He refuses to take a pacifier. Last time He used one was when he was 2 months old. I too wished he would take one sometimes, but then again its one less thing to wean him from : )
Well my daughter takes one, BUT I never did. My mother breastfed me for 18 months, and I as well wanted nothing to do with one lol.
I breastfed Lilah for 6 months (until I could no longer produce enough for her) and she took a paci starting around 1 month and always has. She only uses it when sleeping though, and even then, it always falls out of her mouth lol.
My 7 month old is the same way and she rather suck her thumb than have anything to do with a paci. Just don't force it on her. Sometimes I wish my baby would take one like she did when she was born.
I believe if the baby is bottle fed, the baby is much more likely to take a pacifier. There is something about the difference in how the plastic nipple vs the breast nipple feels in the baby's mouth. It works both ways kinda. For instance sometimes my baby just wants to suck, but he won't take my breast, he will ONLY take my nipple if I put a plastic nipple shield on it (I guess it feels like the plastic nipple of a bottle to him).
Well my son refused to take one since he was born. I had lots of pacifiers in a box that my mother in law gave me I gave it to him one day (8months) when I couldn't calm him down. Now he uses it a lot and it calmed him down a bit. Before nothing was good enough for him he was never completely satisfied with anything I did to make him happy.
