Two charges are fixed in space as shown.
-------O1-----------O2------(charges along a line)
Q1=-e
x=0(zero)m
Q2=3e
x=4m
Find all points (along the line that connects the charges) where the electric potential equal zero?

Point left of Q1:
k(Q1)/(-x) + k(Q2)/(4 - x) = 0
k(-e)(4 - x) - k(3e)(x) = 0
-4 + x - 3x = 0
x = -2 m
Point between Q1 and Q2:
k(Q1)/x + k(Q2)/(4 - x) = 0
k(-e)(4 - x) + k(3e)(x) = 0
-4 + x + 3x = 0
x = 1 m
hi R, the flexibility is given by technique of ok q / r Now ok is an same in both. q = Q and yet another q = -7Q r in the first case is x and in the 2d case is two - x for this reason both potentials could be a similar. So Q/x = 7Q/ 2-x ===> 2-x = 7x ====> x = a million/4 m So the point with 0 ability will be at 25 cm from the charge Q.
