I'm currently working through my enlistment process, and i just got back from MEPS. My ASVAB scores qualify me for any job in the Vermont Air National Guard. My top job choice was Intel. But my recruiter told me that there are no openings and intel isn't really an option. However, i do qualify for F-16 eletrical enviormental work and that includes a 20k bonus. Does any one have some advice on weather E&E is a good interesting job? Its the ANG so even if i hate it, its one weekend a month.

I was an aviation electrician in the navy and had a ball. If I was you I would call them some week-end when they are drilling and tell them that you have some questions. I met some of them back in the mid 90's when they hosted an airshow in Burlington for their 50th anniversary. (we flew a P-3 up there from Fla. for a "static display") The ones that i met seemed pretty cool. They may even invite you to go take a tour of their hangar and let you see what you would be working on. (my best guess is the pressurization and emergency egress systems) In the navy we always said that AE stood for "aviation everything" cause if it had a wire going to it we worked on it, everything from changing light bulbs to the generators, instruments,Auto-Pilot and inertial navigation. The AF and ANG are more specialized so give them a call and ask. Was kind of nice to see my family on that trip as I grew up in Vt and hadn't been home in a few years.
