Has anyone here ever lost weight from an elliptical trainer?
how old were you?
how much weight did you lose?
how long did it take to lose the weight?
how much did you use the elliptical trainer?
( I'm 13, and trying to lose 30 pounds.. i'm asking for an elliptical trainer for Christmas, and hoping that it will work well to get the 30 pounds off...)
Thanks :)

I think that an elliptical is hands down the best cardio workout machine around. I lost 20 pounds in like 2 months by dieting well and using an eliptical.
They have training programs and all sorts of cool stuff. Plus they are easier on your knees.
I've never owned an elliptical trainer, but I got to use them when I attended a college with several gyms. I love it. They work very well and I find them easier than just running. None of my weight loss was directly linked to using ellipticals. I didn't use them that often. I lost 15 pounds freshman year, but that was because I wasn't eating all the carbs my mother tends to make, and I was half a mile from my classes, the best dining hall, and my best friend. Walking several miles a day after leading a carb-heavy, sedentary lifestyle made weight drop off effortlessly. By the time I got on the ellipticals I needed more toning and a healthier resting heart rate, but not much weight loss. I would love an elliptical, but decent ones are so expensive! I also move about once a year, and they're unbelievably heavy. I don't think three or four of my most muscular guyfriends could move the gym models I've used, and I'm sure I want a good one or nothing at all.
Elliptical trainers are not the most effective way to exercise. It is cardio which is good but it doesn't really do anything for your muscles. Your muscles are the fat burners. Do different exercises to keep the muscles from getting "bored". I don't know if you have Curves where you live but that is cross-training and for your age and for starting out I believe that would be a good bet for you and a better investment. It works muscles and is cardio which will help you burn many more calories than the elliptical. You want to be healthy and weight loss is a bonus. You are still growing so your weight will naturally fluctuate. http://www.curves.com/
PS I don't work for curves
Well, i was 16, an and i lost 20 lbs, i went on the eliptical 15 minutes a day as well as 15 minutes rowwing and 15 minutes running.
it took me 3 1/2 weeks.
If you want to loose 30lbs, diet plays a huge part of it too, so eat less and more healthly
Ellipticals are good, but you can't get better that the real running. plus, running burns lots of calories. try going for a 1 mi run and then very slowly increase. it also gives you toned legs...
