I used to work at a pet store and it is extremely hard. You will have to stock shelves, clean up after animals (that you will get extremely attached to) and have to sell both the animals and their accessories as well as probably getting minimum wage for maximum work. It is smelly, sweaty work with little/no appreciation. And if business is bad, your hours could get cut.

I've also worked in a diner and while the work is also hard, it comes with some appreciation AND tips. Since it's local, the customers will get to know you and will probably tip better and since your bro-in-law works there, he can intervene on your behalf with tough/rude customers.

Not everyone has pets but everyone DOES have to eat. Short answer: go for the diner.

it really comes down to if you really like animals and want to be around them then yes petco (where the pets go) but then youd have to clean them and their poo not to mention the amount of animals. working in the diner with family would be cool cause it would seem like you have a better chance of getting that job. it really depends on what you really want to do. working at a diner you get tips, its really up to you and what youd prefer to be doing

I personally find working with family not so great, they like to monitor you or keep tabs on you and it gets old fast..
