I moved here from Ohio last August and would like to go back to school in January 2011. I don't have my California ID yet, just a lease I signed last October when my mom and I were finally able to move into our current apartment. What steps would I need to take so I can start school in January?
Update:I'm 23 if that makes a difference

If you are under 18, your residence is that of your mother. If you are over 18, your residence is the place you intend to remain permanently, and you are a resident of a state when you are present in the state with the intent to remain permanently. (Things like voter registration, drivers license, etc., are not necessary to be a resident, they are simply evidence that you are a resident.) If you are asking about paying resident tuition, that usually requires you to be a resident for a year, so if you became a resident last August, you should be OK. Since your mother is also a resident, you will not have to prove financial independence.
