Hello,
I want to work out the average.
I have three different types of data, private, military and teaching.
when i filter these data and work out the average.
when i select all the date the average changes.
If this makes any sense, how do i make it so the data will hold. so my answer will not change when changing the filters

It's a difficult one to answer without seeing your spreadsheet, but if you're filtering your data, thereby hiding data that does not qualify against your selected filter, then the average will reflect only the data that is visible and will not take into account the hidden (filtered out) data. So when you filter, the average equation works only on the filtered data. When you remove the filter(s), the average equation works on all the data. The only way I can see to resolve this is have two tables, one with the all data unfiltered and another table with which you can filter. Then you could have two formulas, one to work out the average of all data (from the first table that's static) and one to work out the average on the second table (that you filter against).
