Especially for diagnosing endometriosis? I'm having one soon and I'm very nervous.
How long ago did you (or someone you know) have it? Did it hurt a lot afterwords? How long was recovery and how fast were you able to get back to doing everyday activities? Was the procedure itself bad? How big was the hole? Has it healed?
I know it is a lot of questions but I'm a little scared because this is the first time I am ever going to have surgery. And if the laparoscopy was for endometriosis & it was diagnosed, did you get the endometriosis removed?
Thank youu :)

The laproscopy itself only lasted for a couple of hours, and that was because they did find endometriosis and removed what they could. It's normally a day-surgery, but they kept me in overnight because my blood pressure was really low. The blood pressure problem actually had nothing to do with the surgery: it was because they gave me a really powerful laxative the day before (to clear out the whole gut in preparation for the surgery), and that made me lose too much fluid. I remember the laxative being one of the worst parts of the whole experience, but it turned out that they'd actually given me way too much of it. :) The procedure itself was a piece of cake.
It didn't really hurt a whole lot afterwards, although I developed a cold the next week, so I remember coughing being rather unpleasant when my abdominal muscles were still stitched up. I was back at work within three days, but the bloating from the gas they pump into your abdomen did last about a week.
Because they removed endo from me, I was left with three small scars (not just one). One is just under my belly button, and not really noticeable at all. The other two are down below my panty-line, and similarly quite small (about 1/2 inch long each).
Trust me, as far as surgery goes, it's pretty minor. :)
My surgery took 20 minutes. You are completely out and feel nothing. The pain is minimal afterwards with proper pain medication. The worst part is that they pump gas in your stomach to do they surgery, and after the surgery it travels up and gets caught in your shoulders - very painful. You will walk hunched over a few days, and then you'll feel much better.
There is no hole - the main incision is through the belly button. Completely invisible.
I was only 17, so I was very scared as well. I am totally healed from my surgery, which was in March. Endometriosis, unfortunately, can grow back at any time. They did get it all during the surgery... now a few months later, they suspect that it has started to grow back.
i had a laparoscopy about 2.5 years ago. my surgery lasted only a few hours, i was in recovery for an hour then sent home. the rest of the day is just a blur b/c the anesthesia was still wearing off. as for pain i didnt have pain to where i couldnt get out of bed, actually went to work the next day but i was just a driver so i didnt have to do anything. my doc kept prescribing me meds that im allergic to so i went through the entire healing process with nothing stronger than advil. it took about 3 days before i felt like me again and maybe 5 days before all pain was gone. good luck. you may also want to look into a clinic in atlanta, ga, its called "Center for Endometriosis Care". they actually remove ALL endo instead of what most gynos do which is remove whats on or in the uterus and leave whats left, thats what my gyno did. regular gynos also just do hysterectomies where as this clinic only does it if its absolutely necessary. a hysterectomy should only have to be done if all other treatment has been ruled out and reg gynos use it as a form of treatment and leave any endo that isnt on the uterus to spread further. anyway search the clinic name and read up on what they have to say. hope this is helpful.
You really need to read "Endometriosis Bible & Violet Protocol" by Zoe Brown (also available in electronic format here: http://www.endometriosisbible.info/ ). It's about how to eradicate endometriosis disease forever. It worked for me, you will see results in only a matter of weeks. Good Luck!
Jesus Christ you ask about a laparoscopy and the SPAM MERCHANT "DR STEVE" comes up with the usual 'home remedies' rubbish which proves that these spammers don't even TRY to tie their stupid damned answers up with the questions !
