Extremely Complicated Weight Loss?

My girlfriend was in a car accident almost a year ago. Since it, she's gained about 36 pounds. Last month she gained 4. She wants to lose it, but she just can't. It's very hard for her to lose weight. Dieting never worked for her, and she can't do simple exercise such as long walking due to her foot being injured. It may be a permanent injury. Before the accident, she was walking, and after three years of it she was finally starting to lose weight.

Shes not obese, so drastic surgery isn't available. Diet pills and lipo are out of the question as well. What can she do? She's going to try biking. If it doesn't hurt her foot, it will take forever to start losing it again. If he does hurt, well, exercise is pretty much out of the question too.

Shes been tested for thyroid problems, and hers is normal. She just has a very slow metabolism and family genetics of being larger.

Is there anyone who can help? Doctors shes seen are practically worthless.
