Beforehand: Chocobo breeding can be rather time consuming, and may patients be with you! :3

First of all, you should try to do the Chocobo Breeding when you have the Highwind under your control since you'll be traveling a lot and to different continents.

TIP this'll help you cut down the expense of what you will need :Having the W-Item materia is a great help too, as it will save up your money.

here's how to get what you will need:

-Get the Chocobo Lure materia. You can either buy one at the Chocobo Ranch for 2,000 gil, or wait until Disk 2 and get one for free near the fence of the ranch. I recommend buying one the first time you get there, and levelling it up throughout the course of the game. This will make it easier to get chocobos.

-Rent some stables at the Chocobo Ranch. They are 10,000 gil apiece, and you can rent up to six. >Renting them all makes your life easier, so do it.

-Get a lot of Sylkis Greens. These special greens are bought only from the Chocobo Sage, at the outrageous price of 5,000 gil. You will need a lot of them to feed the chocobos you'll catch and breed, in order to improve their statistics. This means that you will either have to be filthy rich (selling mastered All Materia works wonders), or use the W-Item trick.

-Getting three Carob Nuts and one Zeio Nut. These rare nuts are not buyable: you'll have to work a little to get your hands on them.

-To get a Carob Nut, you can either trade 500 GP at the Gold Saucer's Wonder Square for one (after Disc 1), or Steal them from a monster called Vlakorados. It can be found on some islands, south of the Bone Village (it has around 30,000 HP, but his attacks are pretty weak, so don't worry).

-To get a Zeio Nut, you need to fly to the northeastern group of islands on the map, and search for one covered with forest. In the forest, you can encounter Goblins, and Steal from them the valuable nut you're looking for. You can also learn the Enemy Skill Goblin Punch while you're there.

Locations and what to do:

-Catch a male and a female Good chocobo in the Gold Saucer Area.

-Catch one male and one female Great chocobo in Mideel Area

-Feed and train your four chocobos. Make them reach class B at least, class A if possible.

-Mate the Good female chocobo and the Great male chocobo with a Carob Nut to get the Blue

chocobo. After that, release the parents.

-Mate the other two chocobos (Good male and Great female) with a Carob Nut to get a Green chocobo. Make sure that the Green chocobo you get is of the opposite sex of the Blue one. After that, release the parents.

-Feed and train your Blue and Green chocobos. Make them reach class A at least, class S if possible.

-Mate the Blue chocobo and the Green chocobo with a Carob Nut to get a Black Chocobo.

C-atch a Wonderful chocobo of the opposite sex of your Black one.

-Feed and train your Wonderful and Black chocobos. Make them reach class S for best results.

-Mate the Wondeful chocobo and the Black chocobo with a Zeio Nut to get a Gold chocobo.

Here's some tips on feeding and training:

In order to breed the kind of chocobos we want, the couple destined to mate has to be in the finest shape possible. And for that, there are two things to do: raise their stats, and advance their class at the Chocobo Square.

The fastest way to raise the statistics of a chocobo is to feed him or her with a large amount of Sylkis Greens. If you feed one 90 or so, you're guaranteed to maximize its statistics.

To advance the Chocobo's class, you'll need to race it at the Gold Saucer, and win races. Note however that not every chocobo can advance to the S class: Yellow chocobos can reach B class, but rarely A class, while Blue, Green, Black and Gold can easily reach S class.

I used this one and got a golden chocobo also it includes what you can achieve with your new found chcobo :) And while your at this it will be within your reach to acquire the powerful materia Knight of the round, the second link is about that. You can not reach it without a specific chocobo.

Side note: when you have knights of the round you can equip it with the quadra magic materia and would be a long but ultimate attack. Also there will be a link to explain what i meant about the W item trick.

Ff7 Chocobo Breeding Guide

Breeding a Golden Chocobo is a long, tedious process, but quite easy. If you are finding that what you are doing is not leading to a Golden Chocobo, you probably made a small mistake somewhere, as if you do everything right, you should have a chance of getting your Golden Chocobo. I'll try my best to explain to you how to do this, and also, you may want to have this map open (this one: http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy/images/b/b3/F... ) while I'm explaining this to you so you can figure out where to get the different Chocobos. Now, here's my step by step guide:

-Chocobo Types-

Wonderful Chocobo - Chocobo Billy says "This... is a wonderful Chocobo!"

Great - Choco Billy says "This is a great Chocobo."

Good - Choco Billy says "Mmm, this seems like a good Chocobo."

Fair - Choco Billy says "Mmm, this one's not bad."

Average - Choco Billy says "This is a pretty average Chocobo."

Mediocre - Choco Billy says "This Chocobo's so-so."

Poor - Choco Billy says "This one doesn't seem to be very good."

Weak - Choco Billy says "I really can't recommend this one."

-Tip!-

-Always save your game before breeding two Chocobos, just incase you don't get the one you need

What you'll need:

30 000 gil for a Gold Saucer lifetime pass

60 000 gil for 6 stables at the Chocobo Farm

500 000 gil for Greens

Steal Materia

Chocobo Lure Materia

1. First, you want to catch one Great Yellow Chocobo, and one Good Yellow Chocobo (Make sure one is male, and the other is female).

2. After you have caught both Chocobos, head over to Bone Village, and use the Steal Materia to steal a Carob Nut from a Vlakorados (a red dragon-like monster).

3. Race both of your Chocobos to A or S Class in the Gold Saucer.

4. Mate the two Chocobos together with the Carob Nut to get either a Blue or Green Chocobo. You will want to mate the original parents again in order to get the other Chocobo (for example, if you got Green, you now also want a Blue one). You will have to wait a while until you can mate them together again (you will need another Carob Nut), so go do some side quests, or level up a bit until they are ready.

5. Once you have a Green Chocobo and Blue Chocobo (one female, the other male), go to the Gold Saucer, and boost them both up to A or S Class like you did with the parents.

6. With another Carob Nut, breed the Green and Blue Chocobos together to get a Black Chocobo. There is a possibility that it may not turn out to be a Black Chocobo, so just save before mating the two together, and reset if you don't get the one you need.

7. Now, go catch a Wonderful Yellow Chocobo with the opposite gender of your Black Chocobo.

8. Race both Chocobos at the Gold Saucer to A or S Class.

9. Mate the Black Chocobo and the Wonderful Chocobo with a Zeio Nut (you can get these from the Goblins on Goblin Island), and with a bit of luck, it should turn out to be your Golden Chocobo!

its time consuming but well worth it cause knights of the round table is an awesome materia. but basically you need to start out with at least "good" chocobos and feed them a certain type of nut before you mate them to get both a green and blue, then you need to race em to get to a certain class to make a black one. then you mate a black on with a normal "wonderful" with a certain type of nut and you get the gold. the website i listed tells you where to find both good and wonderful chocobos.
