Can someone help me explain this? my school wont be able to explain it for awhile since they wont be able to get to my financial aid info for a few weeks
i made less in 2011 then i did in 2010 by about 5 grand ( i have also not worked since March 2011)
my parents also made about 10 grand less then they did last year
and my EFC came out to be about 1000 more then it did last year, how does that work?
Update:Do not tell me to get a job when you dont even know my current situation.

Because the income criteria used to evaluate EFC has also changed
do you recall when the government was going to run out of money? one of the things they changed at that time was Pell Grant eligibility for 2012
it was changed to align with poverty levels... for a student to have an EFC of 0000 in 2012.... an example would be a family of 4 with one college student... the household income must be below $23,000 for the student to have an EFC of 0000 ---- compared to 2011, that same student's household income could be @ $30,000
even though your family made less & with that it might seem like your EFC would be lower than in 2011... it is not & the reason it is not is because of the budgetary changes made to reduce the overall amount of Pell Grant funds to be paid on behalf of students
the country is in a recession and the federal government has less available funds to hand out to eachg kid looking for handouts because there are more and more of you and fewer and fewer parents paying their fair share of taxes.
There are other factors that go into your EFC: http://www.getreadyforcollege.org/gPg.cfm?pageID=1...
