This is really confusing for me because I just finished my first semester of college and don't really know much about this but, I am going to a community college and i am using financial aid. I just started my 2nd semester a week ago. But now i am moving to another state, and i was talking to my adviser about what I should do, and she said i should drop all my classes now. But then i had to talk to financial aid and they said if i drop my classes now I will have to pay back some of the money that financial aid paid for my classes. But my friend had the same problem when he got sick and had to drop out, he said he dropped his classes at the beginning of the semester and didn't have to pay anything back to financial aid. This is really confusing because i talk to my adviser and she says to do one thing but then i talk to financial aid and they say i have to pay it back. Does anyone know anything about this???? Please Help?

If your friend dropped the classes at the beginning of the semester, either he did so before FAFSA regulations were changed, or he hasn't been held accountable for it yet.
If and when you do drop the courses, you will be required to pay back unearned money, and you will be ineligible for it in the future (at any school) until it is paid. I'm sorry, I know moving sucks, but you don't get to keep it.
