Ya man.. same thing happened to me :( but i had to write an appeal letter to get it back.. now its still processing.. I check with the office they said I have to wait at least a month to get my award letter. I dropped 2 classes last semester and they suspended my fafsa and I didnt even know it was the way they do.. holly crap then we cant drop classes no more? Wow
Of course thats legal. To get aid from grants/loans you have to have a certain gpa and you have to work so much on your classes. If your dropped class was dropped to late it could of hurt your gpa putting you below the 2.5 or 2.0 (depending on what your school has chosen) thresh hold. If your dropped class didn't effect your gpa it could of hurt your progress. Also, that class could of put you below part-time making you not qualified for aid.
You must be meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress Rules at your school. Yes, this is legal and is a federal requirement. Read them!!! Once you do, you will understand what you need to do to get your aid back.
Unfortunately, the rules change with the new pell grant policy. Now it requires, being said today when I went to college to fix a class, that now is required to have 15 credits minimum in order to get the pell grant and you cannot drop any classes. Well, that what I've been told by my academic advisor. The pell grant is getting more strict.
