The first day was pretty pointless. Everyone is nevous and even if you do have classes with some friends you barely talk because the rest of the class is nervous. It's mostly just an overview of what you'll be doing the whole year and some teachers make you do awkward ice breakers.
Good things: I made new friends and eventually broke out of my awkward shell. I went to a lot of football and basketball games which were really fun and helped me make new friends. Homecoming and turnabout where really fun too!
Bad things: I was really shy for the first semester and hung around the same people for a while instead of trying to make new friends.
Memorable things: some girl sent out a nudie and the whole school found out about it. It was kinda funny.
Embarrassing things: I really liked this guy in my Spanish class and every time he talked to me I would say something really stupid and embarrass myself! Then for a Spanish project we had to do an oral project and I completely choked and embarrassed myself even more!
Advice: Don't be afraid to be yourself around other people. In freshman year everyone's dying to make friends so if your outgoing and bubbly you shouldn't have a problem! And don't be a try hard. That can be really annoying an people will hate you. Be careful about what pictures you post on Facebook and Instagram because people really judge you by your pictures.
I'm guessing you're an eighth grader going into high school so good luck! Don't get too worked up about it! After a few months you'll be really comfortable at your new school!
I remember my first day. I looked my best and what was probably embarrassing was when I showed up late to class on the first day. What was a memorable thing that happened was the other freshmen that were nervous too and it was just funny. An advice to tell you is that its ok to be nervous. There will be many other freshman outhere, and not even freshman are nervous, everyone else too. The first day of school makes EVERYONE nervous. Youll make friends, youll have fun and although you might be nervous the first day because like i said ITS NORMAL. You should always remember it. GOOD LUCK!
