Some people might have noticed I'm asking a lot of questions, but its for a home ec project and also I'm at a risk of getting diabetes cus My granddad has it and so did his mom and my dad is also at risk but he is type two.
But what I want to know is there other ways such as the colour of urine or the lightness of your blood that might be an indicator

Hi Katie,
The only way to know for sure is with a blood test. They're simple... it's nothing more than a pin prick and a drop of blood on a little strip of paper placed into a glucometer. The symptoms vary from individual to individual. I had none of the classic symptoms.
If you're concerned that you might become diabetic and want to beat the odds, learn all you can about it and adopt this simple lifestyle... Eat a healthy natural foods based diet (for the nutrition), exercise daily, and watch your weight. The exercise doesn't even have to be hard (I walk every day). I was on medication for five years before I learned that I could manage without drugs if I just ate the right foods and maintained a certain level of activity each day. More in my blog:

Blood in urine is also a sign. Pins and needles can be an indicator as it shows the damage to nerves the diabetes has caused. Skin conditions, slow healing wounds. Good luck with the project.
You can't tell by looking at the colour of the urine and the lightness of the blood. You have to find out the glucose level in your blood and there is any sugar in your urine. If you have blood in your urine, you may have kidney stone which is very painful until to urine out. Get your blood monitor. The value (in mmol/L) before food is above 4 - 6.1 and 2 hours after food should be 5-7 is ideal. Optional level should be 6.1 to 8 before food and 7.1 to 10, 2hrs after food. Suboptimal value is 8.1 to 10 before food and 10.1 to 13.0, 2hrs after food. Above that level is considered abnormal. High blood blood pressure and cholesterol may be an indicator which eventually leads to diabetes. Further incur havoc to kidney, pancreas, eyes, hearth etc. If you have family history of diabetes, are are likely to have diabetes when you reach age around 40
Other signs of diabetes are frequent urination, excessive thirst, blurred vision and feeling tired.
