So I have a test tomorrow and two things would help me a ton!! First, a question on my homework is confusing me. The sentence is...
Nein, er hatte ein Tuch ______ ___________ ____________.(vor/hinter // sein Gesicht) The answer is, "vor seinem Gesicht". I feel like I have learned that Gesicht is Das. So with that, why is the sentence in Dative!! I dont understand the reasoning. Please explain in detail. Second, can there be two dative prepositional phrases in a sentence or would accusative case precede a dative case. If you don't understand that then sorry, haha, it's hard to explain.

The gender of the noun doesn't have anything to do with whether the noun has to be in dative. Nouns always have *both* a case and a gender. That depends on the sentence contruction. In this case, the noun has to be dative, because sentences with the preposition "vor" require a dative noun. Luckily, the dative for neutral singular nouns is the same as for masculine singular nouns. It's different only for feminine nouns. Examples:
vor seinem Gesicht (in front of his face) - dative, singular and neutral
vor seinem Garten (in front of his garden) - dative, singular and masculine
vor seiner Küche (in front of his kitchen) - dative, singular and feminine
