Hi all! I am planning on making a giant Elmo cupcake for my daughters birthday party. I have the giant cupcake pan from Wilton...I believe. I plan on trimming it down so it is more rounded. My question is what tip would you use to make hair? What technique would you use to do this? Do you just pull straight out? Should I start from the top and work my way down or the bottom? Also, what would you use for the eyes and nose? I was thinking giant marshmallows for the eyes but not sure what to use for his nose. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated! :)

Marshmallows will work for the eyes. Just cut them in half so they're not bulgy if you want. Use a strawberry cut in half vertically and frosted orange for his nose. Just have fun and remember kids will love it. He's Elmo. Doesn't have to be perfect. EDIT: OOOOh I just thought, maybe you could use banana rounds for the eyes frosted with a little whipped cream. What will you do for the mouth? I hate black food coloring. It tastes bad if you use a lot. You usually have to add a lot of cake coloring otherwise it will turn out grey(ay?)
Maybe you could use black licorice? Not many people like it I know but I can't think of anything good right now. The banana and strawberry would be really good with cake and healthier too. Another thing, you could chop up canned peaches and fresh strawberries and put them in between the cake layers. DELICIOUS no doubt!!!!!! Everyone will love you for that surprise! I'm excited for you! I am planning on doing something for my little girl's birthday party soon! Have fun!!!

Elmo Cupcake Tip
Make your own Elmo cupcakes by adding red food coloring to your favorite white icing and frosting the cupcakes. For the eyes, cut large marshmallows in half and add a dab of chocolate icing for the pupils. Elmo always has a great big, open-mouthed smile, so be sure to paint one on with the chocolate icing.2
Hi! I would start from the top and work my way down in a spiral motion. I would use fondant for both the eyes and the nose, fondant is really easy to make just look up a recipe. Good luck! I'm sure she'll love it.
