My son has a 13 week old schnauzer mix puppy. Yesterday (Sunday) we started noticing that she wasn't as active as usual and that she wasn't eating very much. Today she wouldn't eat at all, nothing. But she has continued to drink her water. She's lethargic and just lays on my son's bed with the exception of twice today. First when I got back from the store she met me at the door with her tail wagging and then when my son came home from school she did it again with more enthusiasm. She doesn't have a fever, her temp's right in the middle of what the average is. Twice today she has dry heaved. No diarrhea and the three times I've taken her temp the small amount of stool on the thermometer wasn't discolored nor was there any smell. My husband's sure it's parvo but I don't think so. My stance is to give her at least tomorrow before rushing her to our vet. He wanted to take her to an emergent care clinic tonight saying we needed to get her treated immediatly. Any suggestions?

Normally every case of parvo I've help treat the dogs have been extremely lethargic (laying there when we put in iv catheters), not eating and lots of horrible smelling diarrhea. In fact between that and the vomiting it is impossible to get any sustenance in them. I have however seen one puppy who was still pretty alert and happy because we caught it very early. That puppy had a great and relatively inexpensive treatment. All the others were very expensive and some didn't make it. That said I would be okay with waiting till the morning but you should definitely take it in first thing. I would be able to tell you more if I knew the following things...Has it had any vaccines and at what ages. Any exposure to other dogs and how much? Has it been dewormed and how often?
Its available , yet fantastically unlikely . If the canines has been recently vaccinated against parvo , the possibilities are high slender . in spite of the indisputable fact which you pronounced the Lab became vaccinated , and it nonetheless caught it . so which you're able to save an intensive eye on the canines . the 1st sign of vomiting/diarrhea or lethargy , seek for scientific advice . Parvo is rather resilient . it may stay interior the atmosphere for years . you're able to bathe each and every corner and cranny , carpets, sofas rugs , any the place the contaminated canines has been . And dont ignore the backyard . If the contaminated canines defecated exterior , parvo will nonetheless be residing interior the atmosphere . be sure you hold up as much as now with parvo photos . Its the main helpful thank you to keep away from the virus .
When my puppy got parvo it couldn't move much either great anyone at the door, also if there isn't bloody diarrhea then I wouldn't see why you suspect parvo there can be plenty of reasons for a dog not to eat, so don't jump to the worst one. Also if she isn't puking either then I wouldn't think suspect parvo. I've had to handle parvo 2 times, once after the vaccination and 5 years later when my puppy had grown up, she fully recovered with proper care and treatment after 2 weeks of being really sick, yes it took that long for her to recover from when the treatment began. Anyway just try to give your puppy some chicken and rice, maybe it has a stomach ach or maybe it ate something like a sock that is hurting him. But just in case it could be something else (like a sock) then you should go to your vet.
My dog was just going threw the same thing, everyone was telling me she had parvo or a blockage so I took her to the vet expecting the worst, all she had was doggy flu (theres a real name for it but missed placed my vet papers) so with a few meds she is back to her old self again!
I don't think it is parvovirus. If it were the puppy wouldn't be doing anything but laying around, throwing up, and having foul smelling bloody diarrhea but still needs a trip to the vet to see what is going on.
are you sure it's sick ?
