Ok, so my crate RFX200s (solid state) amplifier that i've had for 4 years just today developed a troubling issue. At first i thought it was connections between the guitar and amp so i tested all those. not the problem. The amp seems to either make a large leap in gain and do nothing but feed back, or drop out completely. i watched the channel LED when this happens and it seems that i'm getting power fluctuations thru the amp. I took it off the power strip and put it straight into a wall outlet, same problem (repeated this with multiple outlets). I hear there's a problem, especially in crates, with something in the power box going wrong, and that it israther difficult to repair. Is there anything else that could cause this? or do i just need a new amplifier?

that actually sounds pretty awesome
That sounds right, the amp has an issue in the converter or capacitor whichever the case may be, you could get it repaired if you really like that amp and it may cost some cash. or you could just buy a new one but first before you go off buying one see what it would cost for repair, no sense in spending big money when you can fix what you have and continue to use it.
