Hard mattress problems?
I recently moved into a new house. So basically, we get new everything. So my mom decided to buy me a freakin hard *** matress. It keeps me up till 1AM and my back hurts in the morning. I cannot find a confortable position in it at all. Don't think about the money, i mean as long as the mattress is under 500 dollars. But no,, she decided to cheap out and get me a 95 dollar one from an unknown furniture home in the middle of nowhere. How do I make matress softer?? OR how much is an average soft matreess? You can't do anything to make the mattress softer, but you can add some softness to the top of it. I have this same problem. My mate requires extra firm mattress, which I can't bear to sleep on. I purchased a memory foam topper and placed it on my bed. I eventually added a 2nd, better quality topper to the mattress. With two memory foam mattress toppers, the bed is now quite comfortable.
I'd suggest trying one of the less expensive foam toppers from Wal-Mart or a department store. A decent topper can be purchased for $30 or $40. The toppers come in a few different thicknesses. You might even want to invest in one of those very nice 4" thick toppers. I wish I had placed both mine on the bed sooner :)

get hold of a mattress topper. basically a duvet with elastic to keep it on the mattress!
